Why should I use an interior designer?
There are several reasons to consider using an interior designer for your projects:

  • To create a unified design vision for your project
  • To tap into the collective research and experience of professionals
  • To obtain access to resources only available "to the trade"
  • To save yourself the time and hassle managing a project yourself

How does your work differ from what an architect does?
We primarily view a project space from the standpoint of its usability to the occupants, not from the standpoint of the architectural shell. Many of the elements we consider are typically not included on an architect's plans. These include detailed space planning, finish selections (paint colors, stone/tile), and the relationship of all of the elements in the space to each other (furniture, lighting, fabrics, accessories).

That said, we can and do prepare architectural plans including interior and exterior elevations for more significant renovations and additions. Depending on your Township's regulations, you may have to have these drawings reviewed by a licensed architect to obtain a building permit, especially if structural changes are involved.

How do you charge for your services?
We charge a combination of an hourly rate for design and cost plus for any purchasing or management of subcontractors. Our proposals are very detailed and will be provided to you following a short meeting at your home to determine your project scope.

Do you manage construction projects as well?
We are not general contractors; however, we do make recommendations of subcontractors based on our relationships with many local builders and individual tradespeople. We can also coordinate the activities of these tradespeople and provide oversight of their work to ensure adherence to the design intent.
